The Navajo Nation Zoo Staff host at least three Big Events each year. The largest event of the year is ZooFest, which happens on the first weekend in May. ZooFest attracts between 3,000 and 6,000 people each year and features a number of free activities and games for children of all ages. We will be hosting the 6th Annual ZooFest on May 4th, 2013.
Around Halloween, we host the annual ZooBOO! Event. ZooBoo! features a costume contest, games and other activities for the kids. In 2013, we will be hosting the 5th annual ZooBOO! Event.
At each event, the Navajo Zoo brings in a local company that inflate a giant slide and jumphouses. These are continually busy throughout the day. Local volunteers provide free face-painting throughout the day. And the Zoo Staff provide crafts and games. We also coordinate many other activties for these events to make each one unique.
We are grateful for partnerships with the National Indian Youth Leadership Project, the Window Rock/Ft.Defiance Lions Club and others, that provide necessary volunteers.
The large Navajo Zoo Events are definitely something not to miss!
